Why It Matters

Raising awareness about domestic violence serves as a catalyst for breaking the silence and stigma surrounding this complex issue. It provides an opportunity to educate the public about the prevalence and impact of domestic violence, debunk misconceptions, and encourage open conversations. By shedding light on the realities of domestic violence, individuals are better equipped to recognize warning signs, offer support, and seek help when needed.

Second

Kentucky ranks second in the nation for domestic violence, according to statistics from the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Nearly half of women and over a third of men in Kentucky have experienced domestic violence in their lifetime. In 2019, Kentucky’s domestic violence programs served over 1,400 survivors, but many more requests were unmet due to a lack of resources.
